Popular online shopping brand PrettyLittleThing has officially debuted its first-ever brand collaboration, and it’s a good one. The e-tailer has partnered up with iconic streetwear brand Karl Kani for a positively legendary collection of urban outerwear, jersey dresses, embroidered denim, track suits, and more.
“We’re a very celebrity-focused brand, but you see what Virgil [Abloh] is doing with Off-White; you see Vetements; and I was very inspired by the Louis Vuitton and Supreme collaboration, as well,” founder and CEO Umar Kamani shared about how this PrettyLittleThing Karl Kani collaboration came up. “The celebrity thing is amazing for us but I just wanted to try something else and it’s been really exciting.”

If you are noticing a distinct 80s and 90s vibe running throughout this collection, that’s perfect – because the whole intention is to pay tribute to the Karl Kani brand’s rise to fame in the late eighties into the nineties. It was a whole different universe when you think about the idea of modern “fashion influencers,” as huge hip-hop stars like Tupac, Biggie, and Diddy loved the label without the idea of a #sponsored social media post.
“Karl Kani started in an era where there was no Facebook, no Twitter, no Instagram; everything was done hand-to-hand to get the word out,” the designer shared.
