Missoni‘s high-fashion campaigns are always some of the most vibrantly colored and graphically printed images in the industry. The Missoni Fall 2018 campaign starring Gigi Hadid and French male model Yassine Rahal is certainly no exception. The 23-year-old supermodel stuns wearing a collection full of rainbow knits and quilted patchwork pieces that feel as fresh and modern as they do vintage-inspired.
The brand calls this campaign, lensed by Harley Weir and creative directed by Angela Missoni, “a gallery of silhouetted figures, graphic poses, and soaring identities that are iconic, unique and inimitable.”
The line itself is comprised of a globally-inspired collection, which references distinct 1970s fashion moments, along with the pop culture icons that brought those looks to life throughout the decades.
The Fall/Winter 2018 line’s photo shoot marks “a convergence of body and garment, personality and style identity. It is an invitation to compose, superimpose, and deliberately interpret the extraordinary craftsmanship, finishings, and details of a collection rich in creations and variations; shades and patterns; weights and textures,” the brand adds. “Enveloping fabrics are soft and warm, or otherwise lightweight and transparent. A series of patchwork designs, mesh fabrics, fringe details, jacquards inspired by the coats of wild animals, and streaked and spotted capes reference multiethnic costumes, urban graffiti, the colors of Africa and Jamaica, and the sensual nonchalance of iconic stars such as Lenny Kravitz or Lisa Bonet.”
