After the untimely passing of fashion industry icon Kate Spade earlier this year, the future of her eponymous clothing line could easily feel uncertain. But the newly-debuted Kate Spade Pre-Fall 2019 collection proves the popular label is headed in a steady new direction.
Creative Director Nicola Glass is making the Kate Spade New York brand’s bright colors and joyful accessories the star of the show this season – just as all of us would hope. But Glass is also kicking those expectations up a notch.
“The brand has always stood for color, but I wanted to make it a bit more unexpected and eclectic,” Glass said, via WWD.
Inspired by the city in the summer, the Kate Spade Pre-Fall 2019 line is composed of flowy printed maxi dresses, flirty summer frocks, beautifully mixed and matched patterns, and coordinated two-piece sets. Lovely colors like hot pink, pale orange, light lavender Kelly green, and lively yellow make up the vibrant color scheme.
As the fashions themselves charge ahead, the brand’s accessory roots are being explored in their traditional forms.
“There was a purity with the accessories when Kate and Andy launched the brand,” Glass said, sharing intentions to keep that essence going.
Wearable totes and fashion-forward saddle bags are some of the line’s most classic pieces – and we imagine shoppers will want to rock them everywhere for seasons to come.
