Adriana Sahar – NYFW Spring 2018 Ready-To-Wear
Different is sexy, declares fashion designer Adriana Sahar. It’s a statement more than a few people in the style industry are making this year. Weary of neutral trends like black-on-black and muted nudes, brands are turning back to color this fall and carrying the trend over into spring. Yet, even surrounded by more vibrant palettes and flashy clothes, Adriana Sahar still stands out as a flashy individual with an aesthetic worth your notice. A self-starter, Sahar started designing out of her parents’ garage at the age of 22. Her inspiration? The dream girl. She would craft all those different pieces in her imagination for women across the globe to enjoy. Fast forward a few years and she’s still pursuing that dream, populating the runway with frills, prints, and furs in dynamic colors you can’t help but smile at.
The Adriana Sahar spring collection is at once girlish and adult, adapting some of the wilder outfits from controversial greats like Miley and Gaga into wearable attire. A skirt-bra-shawl trio with pastel and black blotches comes to mind, as does the short slip and fur throw worn by a model with Jessia Rabbit red hair. There were also billowing trousers and bralettes aplenty, each with either wild fierceness or Candyland playfulness. Don’t forget to celebrate yourself, the Style Fashion Week runway seemed to say. Thank you, Adriana Sahar, for the inspiring reminder.
