Rebecca Minkoff Debuts a Collection of Smart Bags
From style-savvy smartphone apps to art televisions and synced-up designer smart watches, we love the creative new ways fashion brands are merging their ideas with the latest technology. The latest designer to push forward into wearable tech is Rebecca Minkoff, who recently unveiled her own line of “smart” bags.
Rebecca Minkoff’s collection of #AlwaysOn bags are reportedly equipped with codes that are able to be scanned via smartphone. These codes allow the brand to send featured videos, product recommendations, and exclusive offers straight to the user. This creative technology allows shoppers to engage with their products beyond their initial purchase.
“We were looking to appeal to the woman that is a truly tech-active millennial craving a new level of immediate satisfaction,” Rebecca Minkoff shared about this product launch. “We wanted to be first in letting our customers access this new world of experiences, content and services digitally by interacting with our physical designs. Most fashion brands lose sight of their products and customers; this technology now allows us to directly connect with shoppers through our products after purchase.”

“We know that all products in the future will have a digital life as part of the Internet of Things,” co-founder and brand CEO Uri Minkoff added. “Rebecca Minkoff wants to be first in letting our customers access this new world of experiences, content and services digitally by interacting with our physical designs. Most fashion brands lose sight of their products and customers; this technology now allows us to directly connect with shoppers through our products after purchase. We’re incredibly excited by a born digital future.”
The Rebecca Minkoff brand already has incredible fan loyalty, with shoppers returning often to pick up the latest designs of the season. Now, the #AlwaysOn bags have launched in stores, through partnerships with EVRYTHNG’s IoT retail movement and Avery Dennison’s Janela platform. With this line and its built-in loyalty incentive, the brand has also set a great foundation for future collaborations with emerging technology and devices.
