This back-to-school season, I have been thinking a lot about the kind of outfits I wore during my own schoolyard days. For many of my formative fashion years – specifically, high school – my wardrobe consisted of uniforms: crisp khaki kilts, polished button-up tops, and oversized cardigans embroidered with my school’s crest. But the place where my personal style really got to shine was through my sports team uniforms – which was composed of shiny track hoodies and the red felt varsity jacket that’s still a crucial part of my winter wardrobe, even all these years later. Now, the Tommy Jeans Fall/Winter 2018 lookbook has me nostalgic for all of the above.
Tommy Hilfiger‘s latest collection is all about the 90s and early 2000s trends we fell in love with decades ago, and keep returning to. There’s lived-in denim, a style classic that persists throughout generations. Logo tees that proudly profess our brand loyalty. Sporty (and boldly hued!) puffer jackets, which keep us warm and turn any style into a chance to get creative with layering.
Plus, there are those chunky, logo-emblazoned sneakers – the Tommy Jeans Icon 6.0 versions! – that tie modern style trends with the retro-inspired kicks of the past.
Out of any designer’s autumn lines of this season, the Tommy Jeans Fall/Winter 2018 range most perfectly reflects the kind of style I would have dreamed of wearing to class in the late 90s and early 00s. And as I get more nostalgic than ever about my fashions, this kind of praise means a lot.
