Starbucks Unleashes the Cinnamon Shortbread Latte for Winter
If fall is considered Pumpkin Spice Latte season at Starbucks, then this winter is being dubbed Cinnamon Shortbread Latte season by the coffee retailer. As a special edition winter drink this 2019, the brand has debuted the CSL – its colder weather answer to the wildly-popular PSL.
This new coffee blend “combines espresso with milk and notes of brown butter and vanilla, topped off with cinnamon and nutmeg,” according to Starbucks. Yes, you read correctly: there’s real butter blended into this decadent sweet treat.

The Cinnamon Shortbread Latte can be ordered hot, iced, or as a Frappuccino Blended Beverage – and that is just the beginning of the customization possibilites. Not only can you swap out your milk choice, but you can pick your espresso intensity level by trying it out with the bolder Signature Espresso or the sweeter Blonde Espresso.

If your mouth is already watering over imagining the sweet treat-inspired flavors, know that Starbucks has described the drink as tasting like a cup of melted cookie butter along with some added spices. The drink is supposed to “transport you to a comfy, cozy winter wonderland for some quintessentially winter sipping,” if you’re feeling particularly adventurous.
The Starbucks Cinnamon Shortbread Latte will be available at stores across the U.S. and Canada starting on January 8.
While a specific ending date has not been announced, this CSL drink is a limited time only special, available only as supplies last. If you want to try it out for yourself, you’d better get taste testing!
