Sarah Jessica Parker is a style icon, simple as that. But the Sex and the City actress and fashion designer is on a mission to give all of us a taste of her personal aesthetic – especially on our life’s most special occasions. Today, the star is expanding her fashion empire by launching her own collection, SJP by Sarah Jessica Parker Bridal with Gilt.
The debut collection is made up of 10 beautiful styles, which are intended to take a bride from her bridal shower all the way through her reception and beyond. Gilt will also be carrying 15 exclusive coordinating shoe styles from the SJP by Sarah Jessica Parker footwear range that work with the bridal line’s dresses, gowns, bodysuits, jumpsuits, and skirts. Fashions set to range in price from $295 to $2,395, with shoes running from $350 to $485.
The star explained that she decided to launch SJP by Sarah Jessica Parker Bridal because her existing fashion customers were coming to her with a hole in the market.
“Collaborating with Gilt on my first bridal ready-to-wear collection was an opportunity I couldn’t pass up… It has been quite fun to play around with colors, fabrics, and details to create unique pieces for all kinds of brides,” the actress shared in a press release, noting that her new line includes many options for the non-traditional bride.
“We kept having these wonderful women of all ages and backgrounds and sizes and shapes, they kept telling us they were buying for their wedding and they were not buying what would be conventionally thought of as a bridal shoe. We recognized that there was this space where brides were looking for something that felt different, that suggested who they were,” SJP told WWD. “So we were encouraged to create a bridal collection within our collection, so in those deliveries we always have a bridal shoe. But people tend to use our shoes anyway outside of that for that special occasion.”
“Not only is Sarah Jessica Parker’s style known around the world, her point of view is one-of-a-kind,” Tom Ott, the chief merchant of Gilt, said in a statement. “Sarah Jessica brings her impeccable taste and fashion sensibility to life in this collection. We think our customers will be delighted with the offering which is stylish and well-priced in the bridal category.”
If you ever felt it was too big a splurge to buy fancy heels or statement accessories just for your wedding, know that SJP wants you to continue wearing your glam footwear after your special day as well.
“The intent is they should be usable outside of that special occasion. Whether you’re the person walking down the aisle, or you’re attending, these are all pieces that should be relevant in your closet,” she explained. “There are some pieces that feel more decadent and more specifically bridal. There’s no law saying they’re not appropriate for many other important occasions as well.”— Scarlett Price
