Selena Quintanilla: Honoring the Style Icon’s Best Looks

Selena Quintanilla released her first studio album exactly twenty-eight years ago today, on October 17, 1989. Google paid tribute to the late singer with her first doodle that represents her journey in music. In the doodle, you can see Selena singing her hit song, “Bidi Bidi Bom Bom.” You can also see her sporting a sleek jumpsuit along with her signature red lips. Google’s doodle really captured the essence that was Selena Quintanilla.

Selena Quintanilla was not only an inspiration to Latinas, but also to others who felt like they didn’t “fit” in. She inspired people to be proud of who they are and to embrace their uniqueness. One way Selena embraced her uniqueness was how she expressed herself through fashion. She didn’t follow the trends, she set them.

To honor her life, we decided to pay tribute by admiring some the best looks worn by Selena Quintanilla.

Plain White Tee & High Waisted Jeans

There is just something about this look that is so effortless. Let’s break it down. Her hair is perfectly tousled, her makeup is simple except for her signature lip color and you just can’t go wrong with a white tee and denim. Nobody did laid-back chic like Selena.

Rhinestone Bra

What’s great about this look is that it can be translated to what’s in style today. There are so many variations of bralettes that can be incorporated into your everyday wear. We love how Selena pairs this white rhinestone bra with high waisted white pants – this makes the final product both sexy and classy.

Her Grammy Dress

Certainly not least, her Grammy dress. The form fitted, beaded bodice makes her figure look flawless. Also, we loved her hair style choice. Her loose updo, really accentuates the dress and her beautiful face.
