Paul Dano just recently made his directorial debut with the film Wildfire, and now he is debuting as the face of Prada Observia, the designer brand’s Autumn/Winter 2018 menswear collection. The 33-year-old actor dons the latest suits, tailored slacks, and polished coats from the upcoming new line to participate in this off-the-grid release for the Prada 365 storytelling campaign.
“The next incarnation of 365, showcasing the Prada Fall-Winter 2018 menswear collection, considers these notions – of illusion and dreams, imagination and actuality,” the brand shared on its website about the latest campaign drop. “Embodied by a new wave of Hollywood talent, the men’s collection is brought to new life within the enclaves of the Prada Fall-Winter 2018 Men’s Show, a fantastical ‘Prada Warehouse’, a space that can be inhabited but is nevertheless a chimera, a mirage.”
If you are getting serious security guard vibes from the set location and outfit styling, that is totally intentional. In fact, Paul Dano brings this role to life in the campaign’s visual imagery and videos – which catch him sneaking past motion sensors and security cameras in a highly-observed warehouse space.
Along with Paul Dano, the new campaign also taps fellow actors Joe Alwyn, Nick Robinson, and Algee Smith for the surveillance-style video production by Willy Vanderperre.
“Exploring dual roles, of the actors themselves and of the characters they evoke within these make-believe surroundings, the campaign juxtaposes imagery of the actors inside the ‘Prada Warehouse’ with a series of monochrome portraits,” Prada explained. “Investigating concepts of uniformity and individuality, the distinct personalities of each of these four protagonists shines through, bringing truth to illusion.”
We can’t wait to see more from this thrilling campaign!
