Moschino Year of the Dog

Moschino Drops Betty Boop-Inspired Year of the Dog Collection

This Chinese New Year – celebrated on Friday, February 16 – will commemorate the Year of the Dog. Designer Jeremy Scott found new inspiration within this holiday, and actually created a Moschino Year of the Dog mini collection featuring Betty Boop‘s own pup pal, Pudgy. It’s almost too cute to even handle.

This ready-to-wear range is an extension of the brand’s Spring/Summer 2018 resort line. It features red and gold garments and accessories that (pretty magically) combine the classic cartoon aesthetic, the Lunar New Year imagery, and the designer’s own signature style.

As part of the ultra limited edition line, you will find oversized graphic logo print t-shirts, adorable iPhone cases, trendy keychains, a printed silk scarf, and a fun red backpack purse. All of these items showcase a playful Pudgy design that cartoon fans – and dedicated Betty Boop collectors – are sure to love.

Pudgy first appeared in Betty Boop animations back in 1934, and has become a beloved pop culture icon ever since. (That’s 84 years of pet loyalty too. Aren’t dogs the absolute greatest?) We are loving this high-fashion yet modern street style-approved re-imagination of the classic cartoon.

All of the items you see here and more are now available to shop via Moschino’s online store. Prices for these pieces range from $95 designer phone cases to $895 for the faux leather Pudgy backpack.
