Do you love the colorful and creative work of Eddie Kang? It is now available in fashion form, thanks to a new Spring collaboration with leather goods accessories brand MCM. “MCM collaborates with celebrated Korean artist Eddie Kang to launch a limited-edition capsule collection that sees classic MCM designs reimagined in the artist’s signature ‘Animamix’ style,” the brand announced on its website. “The collection features adventurous prints, soft colors, and several of his symbolic mascots, inspired by the story of the artist’s own adopted pet Loveless.”
That’s right: the artist was inspired by his own story of finding his pet dog – and that’s why you’ll find a cute pup drawing on MCM’s latest tote bags, card holders, iPhone cases, wallets, and more must-have accessories.
“Loveless, a puppy that symbolizes love, hope and fearlessness, survived cruel mistreatment at the hands of his original owner. The collaboration is underpinned by the tagline, ‘Save the Loveless’, a social message close to Kang’s heart that seeks to promote the practice of ‘adopt don’t shop.'”
In a perfect tribute to pet-owners everywhere, the artist even created a dog carrier bag, a dog collar, and a small leash. For when both you and your furry friend hit the town together in style.
“I have always dreamed about collaborating with a global brand such as MCM in part because I greatly admire its design heritage, but mostly because [these types of] partnerships help make art accessible. By bringing my art to bear on much-loved MCM pieces, I can share my stories, philosophy and message are with a much wider audience, and in so doing hopefully inspire a positive change in the world,” Eddie Kang told WWD about his part in the collab.
You can shop the entire MCM Eddie Kang collection on the brand’s website now. Prices range from $127 to $980.
