Mango Dragonfruit Starbucks Refreshers

Mango Dragonfruit Starbucks Refreshers Were Practically Made for Instagramming

The first round of launches from the Starbucks Summer 2018 menu delighted our taste buds, both with festive new drinks and a heap of sweet and savory treats. But the latest tropical drink unveiled by the popular coffee chain is sure to be showing up on your Instagram feeds in months to come. Let’s give a warm welcome to the Mango Dragonfruit Starbucks Refreshers, arriving June 19 in stores across the US and Canada.

There are no artificial colors or added sweeteners at work here in creating this impactful magenta blend. The Mango Dragonfruit Starbucks Refreshers are made with mouthwatering red dragonfruits (also called pitaya) and mango.

The brand knows many social media savvy customers want to pick up a cup of “Dragon Drink” for photo-snapping purposes, but it’s also quite refreshing and flavorful for the scorching summer days ahead.

“People love both the flavor and the color,” Alicia Binion from Starbucks research and development who created the new beverage, shared in a press release. “It’s bright and vivid, something you would want to take a picture of to share with friends. Even the name dragon fruit sounds magical. It’s one of those up-and-coming flavors. The red-fleshed fruit is less common and helps make this drink so fun and unique.”

To show off the colorful social media possibilites of this beverage, Starbucks even posted a clever animation graphic to its own Instagram account. We’re already obsessed – and ready to trend it virally.

Here’s a secret: if you want your Dragon Drink to be creamy rather than crisp, Starbucks advises customers that they can request it be made with coconut milk instead of water. Don’t you love a good life-changing menu hack?

Luckily, these Instagram-ready beverages won’t be leaving us when the sun sets on the final day of summer – the Mango Dragonfruit Starbucks Refreshers have been added to the shop’s permanent menu, so you can indulge year-round!
