The Louis Vuitton Fall 2018 ready-to-wear collection made its debut at Paris Fashion Week, and there was no shortage of dramatic style moments on the catwalk. This collection was all about empowering women, a “dialogue [the brand has] all the time,” designer and creative director Nicolas Ghesquière shared. But not in the traditional sense, which can sometimes mean the rejection of notions of femininity.
“Sometimes we thought that to empower women in a cliché way was to put men’s clothes on her, but we forget some very strong women were wearing very feminine outfits. I love this idea also to explore that, to have women that changed the world and that were not dressing like men,” Ghesquière explained about the designs.
Throughout the showcase, you will notice a contrast of historically-inspired pieces with modern and futuristic detailing. While you’ll find workplace-ready looks like blazers, two-piece suits, and knee-length pencil skirts, you will quickly notice a definitive edge to the garments and their runway styling. Perfect for the 2018 woman who has places to go, people to meet, and big things to accomplish.
