Jennifer Lawrence has been the face of Dior since 2014, but she is putting a fresh spin on her campaign just in time for the brand’s exciting Cruise 2018 collection launch. The actress is the celebrity face of the label’s colorful, Southwestern and desert-inspired ads, and shows off a different side of her style for the campaign imagery.
In a new video interview for Dior, J-Law spoke all about why it’s such a great honor for her to be involved with this campaign specifically.
“Dior has always embodied classic femininity. These bags bring a fresh approach to a classic silhouette. I’m so in love with all of the new bags [designed by Artistic Director Maria Grazia Chiuri],” she said about this new collection. Plus, the creativity of the photo shoot itself really inspires her. “It’s a huge honor to work with [photographer Brigitte Lacombe],” she said.
Inspired by the collection itself, Jennifer also shared some of her worldly advice.
“All of the best decisions I have ever made in my life have all been intuition. I think it’s the most important thing in the world to follow your gut,” she explained in the video.
The desert-inspired collection itself was sparked by artist Georgia O’Keeffe’s Mexican landscape paintings paired with Wild Western elements – a theme that was called upon at Dior’s fashion week catwalk in the Santa Monica Mountains. Maria Grazia Chiuri shared how those ideas translated into Jennifer’s print ads.
“When I started becoming interested in the desert, in the course of my quest for inspiration I came across the extraordinary work of Georgia O’Keeffe, a modern shaman, with her recognizably majestic and solemn look in the sand of New Mexico,” she shared. “A research that is above all an inner journey, in itself and within its own feminine identity.”
