Interview with Morilee Designer Madeline Gardner at NYBFW

Richard Magazine had the opportunity to interview Morilee designer, Madeline Gardner, at New York Bridal Fashion Week this past weekend. We also had the privilege to cover her Spring 2018 Bridal Collection.

Madeline Gardner said the latest collection is, “Different and unique while still keeping tradition to the beauty of the bride.” Gardner refers to this collection lovingly as the icing on her cake. “Every dress has shimmery beaded designs- clear as crystal. Keeping the dresses soft and light with movement and beautiful textures.”

Her design process is as follows, “Lots of layering of sheer fabrics, so even the laces are very delicate and light. Then I appliqué them onto net before I layer organza.” Gardner also built a corset and stretch lining into every dress for added support and lift.

When asked about what inspires her 2018 bridal collection, she immediately responds with “my brides.” She is calling the collection “Dare To Be You” because she wants her brides to feel just as inspirational as they make her feel. How sweet is she?

Gardner deemed herself, ”The Ball Gown Queen” and rightfully so for the following reason. “It’s a princess moment. There is no question.” However, she wants all brides to “sparkle and shimmer and be as beautiful on that day and feel like a true princess, whether it’s in a ball gown or an A-line dress.” Mission accomplished after looking at the models on the Morilee runway – very princess meets high fashion.

As for who she would love to see in a Morilee gown, Gardner wished she had the opportunity to dress Princess Diana. When asked about who she would dress in today’s world, she said “There are so many beauties! If I had to choose, Nicole Kidman or Alicia Vikander.”

What’s next for Morilee? Madeline Gardener wants to “push the envelope on the new, fresh and modern.” Richard Magazine will be anxiously awaiting.
