If you have spent any portion of your summer taking in big sports games or enjoying live music concerts at fan-packed stadiums, you may have had to participate in something called a “clear bag policy.” As an effort to increase security at high-profile events, many venues strictly enforce that event attendees can only bring their belongings in transparent totes. But instead of leaving us to haul our wallet and keys around in a grubby Ziploc baggie, Hampton Road Designs is offering stylish and luxurious alternatives that still abides by the rules.
The newly-launched brand, based out of Texas, creates see-through purses with a glamorous designer touch. Each bucket tote, crossbody bag, and pouch is handmade by master craftsmen in Leon, Guanajuato, Mexico using durable, high-quality, wrinkle-free vinyl that won’t tear, puncture, or melt. They are polished off with fashion-forward detailing, like gold chains, interchangeable woven guitar straps, and luxury trim. Some ofHampton Road Designs’ bags’ trims were even vintage fabrics designed for Christian Dior in the 1960s.
“After practicing law for 20 years, I started Hampton Road Designs out of frustration. When the new clear bag policies went into effect, I could only find cheap, poor-quality, and unattractive options,” the brand’s owner and designer Lisa Davis shared in a statement. “I figured there must be other women like me – avid sports and music fans who didn’t want to make a tradeoff between fashion and function. So, I found the loophole and decided to make them myself. Men clearly wrote the clear bag rules. I’m just adding a much needed woman’s touch to them!”
We absolutely love how a functional need inspired such a fabulous design range that offers so many chic accessories that can be used even outside of concert season.
You can shop the entire collection on the Hampton Road Designs website, with products ranging in price from $79 envelope pouch bags to $99 straps and $189 clear crossbody bags.
