The Fendi Spring 2019 ready-to-wear collection made its exciting runway debut at Milan Fashion Week in Italy with great fanfare. The theme for this range is industrial-inspired utilitarian design and Karl Lagerfeld‘s “GP” idea – giant pockets – that combine form and function for a stunning display.
Fendi described its latest runway show as “an urban jungle where the pragmatic and exotic come together through evocative, feminine lines, sensual shadow play and transformative accessories, from the iconic Fendi Peekaboo to the legendary Fendi Baguette.”
Star models like Adwoa Aboah, Kendall Jenner, Bella and Gigi Hadid, Dilone, Kaia Gerber, and many more walked the runway in the label’s latest logo-printed sportswear, architectural coats, and effortlessly cool separates. Think: upscale athleisure.
While the sporty and wearable fashions themselves were a fabulous combination of high-fashion and trending street styles, of course Fendi’s signature accessories managed to really steal the show. Each model was carrying an eye-catching handbag from the season: from over-the-shoulder slings to classic work-ready pieces and fun neon totes.
For this SS19 season, the brand has revived the popular Fendi Baguette bag – first created in 1997 – all because of its re-emerging style influence with younger generations.
“I’ve seen on Instagram all the young kids wearing their mothers’ Baguettes, so I thought, Well, maybe it’s time,” designer Silvia Venturini Fendi told Vogue, more than two decades after first designing this must-have “It” bag.
This entire season reads a little vintage with a touch of modern charm – and a whole lot of nostalgic appeal. It’s no wonder we are so instantly obsessed.
