Have you ever wanted to see the masterpieces of Vincent Van Gogh up close? And even touch the paintings to feel the 3D texture behind the artist’s iconic works – even though that’s totally not allowed in a museum? Now, a special interactive pop-up art tour by the Van Gogh Amsterdam Museum with support from Samsung is making it all possible across the United States.
After a few months in New Jersey, Texas, and Massachusetts, the Connecticut stop on the Van Gogh Museum Editions Pop-Up Tour will be in Hartford’s Westfarms Mall from May to June 2019. Exact dates and operating times will be announced closer to the opening date.
“In this interactive traveling tour, you will see lifelike fine art replicas. These so-called ‘Van Gogh Museum Editions’ are premium quality, three dimensional replica’s of Van Gogh’s masterpieces,” according to event organizers. “The Museum Editions pay exclusive tribute to Van Gogh’s artistic genius and original, unique approach to art.”
“In the Pop-Up tour you can examine the famous paintings that once graced the walls of the Van Gogh family home,” the museum added. “Enjoy the clarity of the masterpieces with their celebrated energy, light and brushstrokes, close to home. Meanwhile, you can find out more about Van Gogh’s eventful life’s story and the unique opportunity to acquire your own Museum Edition.”
The pop-up tour also raises funds to preserve Van Gogh’s heritage and legacy for future legacies. The exhibit entry fee, merchandise sales (like stationery, home decor, specialty gifts, and more), and sales of Museum Editions goes to supporting this mission.
