Dior Homme Summer 2019

Kim Jones Debuts with Dior Homme Summer 2019 Collection at Paris Fashion Week

The Dior Homme Summer 2019 marks the debut show for the label’s new artistic director, Kim Jones – and therefore, it’s setting the tone for how he expects to refresh and revitalize the historic fashion house.

“It is a dual tribute — to the reality of Dior, and the fantasy,” Jones shared in his SS19 show notes. “It’s my impression of what the house is,” he added, via Vogue. “I know what the customer should be and I know what to do to attract a new customer, but I don’t want to do something for the sake of it. A lot of people do ‘millennial’ and it doesn’t look so real or authentic.”

The Dior house elaborated more on this duality after the show wrapped.

“In his autobiography, Christian Dior reasoned that there are two Diors – the man, and the myth,” the brand shared on its website. “The latter is the house of Christian Dior, born in 1947; the former, Monsieur Dior himself. For his debut collection as Artistic Director of Dior Men, Kim Jones has chosen to interpret the codes of Monsieur Dior himself through the language of his couture house. It is a dual tribute – to the reality of Dior, and the fantasy. Drawing inspiration from Christian Dior’s private life and his creative output, the collection represents a dialogue between these two sides of his personality.”

Supermodel and celebrity guests at this Paris Fashion Week presentation – plus glam muses associated with the Dior family – included Naomi CampbellKate MossBella HadidVictoria and Brooklyn Beckham, Christina RicciRita Ora, and many more stylish A-listers.

Star fans of the Dior Homme label, like actor Robert Pattinson and rapper A$AP Rocky sported their own custom, slickly tailored pieces from the newly-presented menswear collection. It was a wonderful extension of the runway to the front row.
