Do you love the opulent and regal style showcased in historical shows like Game of Thrones? Then you are going to love this fit-for-a-queen new luxury handbag collection. Leather goods brand Delvaux, which supplies the Belgian royal court, has created a limited-edition line of “fairy tale” inspired handbags with eye-catching baroque flair.
“Crafted with the highest levels of expertise, the collection encompasses four realms, each with its own ambiance and accessories. Iron Shield, Black Beauty, Queen’s Desire and Golden Glory, all inspired by medieval legends and dramatic fantasy, enchant with bronze finery, exquisite embossments and skillful embroidery,” the brand shared on their site.
As WWD notes, there is a distinct nod to the popular HBO series in the latest Couture Exclusive Collection, which is defined by opulent embellishment and royalty-approved couture features. That may just be because Delvaux’s artistic director Christina Zeller is a GOT fan! “I have always been a great fan of the Middle Ages, for the costumes and their ornaments,” she told Vogue. “I knew I would use this idea one day for a collection but then, with my sudden love for Game of Thrones, I decided it was the perfect timing to make my dream come true.”
Some of our favorite pieces in this intricately detailed collection include the expertly embroidered “Queen’s Desire” design – and the “Iron Shield” bag that looks like a literal coat of armor.
“Inspired by a knight’s armor, the Iron Shield bag is covered in superimposed layers of leather scales, resembling the protective covering worn by warriors of the past. Master artisans carefully position and overlap the scales, adding brass bolts one by one to create the desired effect of a shield,” the brand explained. Perfect for King’s Landing, really.
Only 1,810 pieces in total were created for this collection, so each design is truly limited edition. Bags in the line start at $5,818, and other leather accessories – like straps and keychains – are priced at $528 and up. All are now available for sale through Delvaux’s own e-commerce page.
