Did you love the colorful, collegiate-inspired stage styles that Beyonce rocked at Coachella – or as it will now forever be called, Beychella? This week, you can officially try your luck at getting your hands on one yourself! The singing superstar is dropping these “B∆K” items and more for fans to shop through a special collaboration with designer brand Balmain – the label that brought her original performance vision to life.
As it turns out, Bey loved her cozy and creative cropped hoodies (and the reactions they received!) so much that she had to keep the joy going.
“When she saw all the dancers loving the outfit—and she was loving her own outfit—she realized that what we were creating on stage for her, for all the dancers, was something really impactful,” Balmain Creative Director Olivier Rousteing shared with Vogue.
It was then the team decided to turn this style moment into a public launch, with proceeds from sales benefiting the United Negro College Fund. This organization is an educational non-profit that helps fund black students and historically black colleges, and Bey herself donated $100,000 to the cause in honor of her April Coachella set.
“After experiencing that beautiful partnership, we weren’t ready to just walk away without adding one final, perfecting touch,” the designer added. “This collection of hoodies and tees, based on key designs from our Coachella efforts, responds to our need to repay an obvious debt for the inspiration we received from the signature spirit and legacy of America’s historically black colleges and universities.”
The three-piece Beyonce Balmain collection is set to drop in the brand’s Paris flagship store (at 44 rue François Premier) on Friday, July 13 from 7 to 9 PM.
The designs, which include a yellow hoodie, pink hoodie, and black graphic tee, will then launch on balmain.com, beyonce.com, and select global flagship retailers on Saturday, July 14. The t-shirt is set to retail for $290, while sweatshirts range in price from, $550 to $1,790.
