The Richard Magazine was excited to catch the latest Avery Verse luxury handbag collection at the Fashion Palette runway collective this New York Fashion Week. The Australian brand creates handcrafted pieces using the finest eco-friendly Italian leather. Though they are designed to last a lifetime, with classic shapes and convenient and easy-to-wear sizing, these fashion-forward pieces were also right at home on the trendy September NYFW runways.
“Our bags are constructed using the traditional leather craft methods that have been used for centuries and require an Avery Verse master craftsman twenty-four hours to cut and stitch each bag by hand,” the label shared in a press release. “Every Avery Verse bag is constructed using only vegetable tanned leather, giving it a beautiful, high quality finish. This is a 6,000-year-old artisanal process where the leather is prepared for manufacture using bark, fruits and natural products. Unlike other tanning methods vegetable tanning does not produce carcinogenic and environmentally
damaging emissions during manufacture. It is the safest and most environmentally friendly means of tanning.”
Beyond the creative method beyond these pieces, we love the story behind the design intentions: the accessories are meant to get even better with time – just like their wearers!
“We want our bags to be treasured and passed down for generations,” the brand’s founders, Sydney-based husband and wife duo, Taylor and Christie Cook, shared in a statement. “As the bags age over time, the leather gets softer, suppler, but like the rich colors, the love for these bags will never fade.”
