Hawaiian-inspired style made a splash during this season’s round of Paris Fashion Week style showcases. The Alanui Spring 2019 Ready-to-Wear collection is a contemporary line filled with Hawaiian floral prints, crocheted bikinis and one-piece swimwear, and more staples for days at the beach – or curled up with a good book.
Designer siblings Nicolò and Carlotta Oddi debuted a colorful lookbook filled with references to the Hawaiian islands even beyond the clothing and fabrics themselves.
“‘Alanui’ means large path, large journey in the Hawaiian language, so that’s a knit couture journey in Hawaii, I took inspiration from the landscape,” Carlotta Oddi said, via WWD.
Knits indeed reign supreme in this collection, with cozy cardigans, cozy hoodies, and crocheted sweatshirts all among the most easy to wear items in the range. But the retro-inspired denim offerings are also quite spectacular, with items like wide leg cropped jeans and fringey, embroidered denim jackets among the standout garments.
For this season’s ready-to-wear designs, Alanui also collaborated with popular footwear brand Superga. These sporty white-soled sneakers were given a stylish makeover thanks to the addition of shells, beads, and tassels. Of course, the kicks themselves featured the eye-catching patterns that you can spot everywhere throughout this season’s collection. We can’t wait to get our hands on these special edition shoes!
